TOMORROW IS THE DAY!

Our flight is at 11 pm so I’m leaving home as soon as I get back from work (730 pm)! I’m bummed that I’m going to miss the LAKERS in the Finals (holla, west siiide!) but I have faith they’ll rock the Championship rings when I get back. :D This trip is going to be so awesome – time away from work, from LA, from sitting in traffic in my car. Finally, a much needed reunion and vacation packed of other r&rs.

Not quite sure if I packed everything, but I got the “essentials” down:

  • books (3: Lost City Radio, Atonement, and Invisible Man - a reread)
  • ipod (how much more American can I get?)
  • pen and paper (I owe Helen some blog entries for the Asian American Action Fund when I come back)
  • laptop
I’m currently burning mixed CDs for Mr. Kiang. Ah! Every time I get emails from him, I yelp in excitement. I think I’m more excited about this trip than I was about … Prom? I even booked our hotel in Singapore! Baller status.
These days have been surprisingly pleasant; I actually enjoy the client that I’m at right now, despite having to drive 30+ miles everyday to get there. I never thought I’d say this, but I want to recur on the job! Other news: signed up for membership at LA fitness. After I come back from the Asian Invasion, we be hittin’ up those gyms.
Alright kids, gotta hit the sack. I’ll have limited access to the internet these next few weeks, but I’ll try to update as much as I can. See you in 3 weeks!

Newsbriefs.

Get it? (Elaine?)

SATURDAY: Got a facial and lunch (@ Vietnamese House) w Elaine. Apparently, I have blackheads deep within my pores. Sounds disgusting, doesn’t it? Then, off to Ken’s house to install new RAM on laptop – for some reason, it doesn’t read all 3 gigs! Saw pictures of Ken’s new dog, which I cannot wait to play with! We are going to call him Sunny. Later that evening … Tea Station with the girls – Linda Kw., Judy, Paula, Elaine, and Caroline (drunk). I had to wait FOREVER for a table, but I’ll let that slide for Elaine and Paula. I was happy that we had GREAT CONVERSATION and a productive brainstorming session. Remember: f I make it big, we make it big.

My favorite ladies at my favorite place.

Elaine and the drunk.

SUNDAY: Essays in the morning. In the afternoon, went to get goodies at Kiki Bakery with Caroline (almost got into 3 accidents along the way – damn phone calls, or maybe it’s just Caroline. Hm). Met up w Ying, Elaine, and Judy to head over to Old Town for shopping. Took cute photos and finally bought a pair of shades. Ray Bans … nothing fancy, but they will work until I can afford some bling on my rims. :) Evening: more essays.

Old Town.

MONDAY: Finished essays!! Didn’t edit them as thoroughly as I’d like to, but am hoping that the admissions committee will still be impressed. Came home and found my first autobiographical essay that I wrote for Ms. Boyd’s English class in the 7th grade!! Ahhh, so excited. It’s a hardcopy so I’m going to type it up and post it under “Writer” sometime this week. Afternoon: dropped off David at UCLA and visited Neil and Gerick. Headed to Father’s Office w Neil to see Jon, Randy, Kent, and Ali, where I was verbally abused by everyone but Jon and Ali. Other than that, good burger and good beer.  Went back to Neil’s and watched the latest episode of Top Chef. Dale!!

Group love.

It’s 11:45 pm and I’m going to get owned tomorrow. But only four more days! My excitement cannot be expressed in words ..

Happy Friday! Some classic conversation w my dear friends for your viewing pleasure:

It’s been a good Friday thus far, especially w the Laker win and upcoming 3 day weekend! I have the room back to myself … oh, how I missed dancing around in my pjs room to everything (from Lupe Fiasco to John Mayer). Today’s song: Guster – Ramona; you try dancing to that! Yeah, it’s nice to get those hips in motion again … let’s go salsa dancing! We all can get hot bodies like my new hero, Kristi Yamaguchi ;P

Anyway, I need to get cracking on these essays. Personal goal: to finish by Sunday night. If I get accepted, I’ll post them up this summer. :)  See y’all tomorrow!
Update: Ok, the Brain is too tired to think & write creatively. Must seek inspiration from Atonement. I will finish the book this weekend … gotta beat Caroline to the good parts and then spoil them for her. Muhaha!

Eleven days

May 19, 2008

and counting.

Dreamt about David Kiang last night, which made me realize how much I missed this old friend of mine! I can’t even express to you how excited I am about to be visiting HK, Cambodia, and Singapore in only 11 days. I can’t wait for this reunion since I haven’t seen him in over 2 years. It’s been too long for such good friends to be apart.

Anyway, I’m looking forward to this weekend. Pdawg and Chuckie EZ are going to be back and ready to attack in the bra. And it’s a 3 day weekend for goodness sakes! What could be better?

Saturday with Neil

May 18, 2008

Today started off like any other Saturday … seemed like it was going to be another wasteful weekend.

Enter Neil. He forced me to be social today, which in the end, wasn’t such a bad thing. : )

He had to drop off his car at Longo to get it fixed so I picked him up and went to Tea Station in SG for boba. Got in my weekly dosage of tapioca balls so I was pretty content. :D  Afterward, we went to visit the store, which, to most of my friends from college and work, is still a mythical wonderland of sugary goodness. I’m pretty sure Neil was shocked at how simple it was. Simple, yes, that’s a good way to put it. Haha. He bought some Lottery tickets and I made him take some donuts back with him.

We then headed out to the west side, which is practically my second home as I’m out there almost 7 days/week. Chilled out his place for a while – got to watch the season finale of the Office (OMG!!!), two episodes of Top Chef, and Ninja Warrior (ninja warrior!!). Headed out to dinner at Curry House after and then drove us to Hollywood (my first driving adventure to HollyHood!!) to watch Veronica Torres (Neil’s former coworker) perform at the Roxy. It was an eventful night and I’m glad Neil forced me to hang out with him. We got to share a lot of good alcohol stories; I told him about my SD boob incident. That probably wasn’t the best idea because he’s expecting more of me now when we all go to Vegas. Ah, despite all the hell I have to put up for our friendship to work, I still love Neil. Can’t wait when he gets married … in the near future ;) .

He did, however, share some very disheartening news with me, which left me sad. I will NOT let him move back to Hawaii anytime soon! I have to keep all my friends close by as the numbers keep dwindling. You guys can’t leave me!

Anyway, a nice day of catching up. Tomorrow: productivity!

Party People

May 17, 2008

Yesterday was the big night:

the precursor to my brother’s future wedding …

NOT! (thought it certaintly felt like it)

We hosted a big party in Long Beach in celebration of my older brother’s graduation from UCSF Pharm. Henceforth, we shall refer to him as Dr. Kim! It was a good night: 1) reunited w. a lot of relatives that I haven’t seen in a while, 2) Lakers won, 3) ate good Cambo food, 4) took some awesome photos.

Anyway, I sat w my aunties (soy yee and duo yee) and their respective boyfriends/fiancee for dinner. Soy yee and I are going to be duo yee’s bridesmaids in her October wedding so we’re both pretty stoked – might even pull some Roxbury stuff off. We’re thinking of changing into neon green dresses with puffy sleeves and putting our hair up in matching scrunchies for the reception. I just hope we don’t get kicked out of the wedding. ;D

The Cambo Club. You know we’re party people. Muhaha.

w Soy Yee, Duo Yee, and my brother. Such an old school get2gether picture.

I love this picture.

But I love this picture more. Anita made that face on purpose!

The cool table.

“Dancing, DANCING!” – Mom to Louis, Soy Yee’s boyfriend.

Check “Photographer” section for more photos.

Purge

May 13, 2008

What a wasted day.

Work: inefficient, unproductive, long, stressful.

Traffic: terrible. Sat in 1.5 hours of bumper-to-bumper musical cars.

Personal: a mess. I tried to look for a dress for my brother’s grad party at the mall after work. No success, which pissed me off because I didn’t get home until 9. Stomach hurt from drinking too much soda and not much of anything else. Haven’t finished any essays for the program that I’m trying to apply to. Haven’t set up an appointment w doctor/dentist. Haven’t paid my driving ticket. Haven’t, haven’t, haven’t found the time to sit down and purge myself of all these worries, reminders, nuisances.

At least one positive thing happened today: got my weekly conversation in w Ken. It was one of those talks that made me smile, despite how stressed I was at the time. I guess that’s what best friends do. : )

{Guster – All the Way Up to Heaven}

I feel sick from boba

May 11, 2008

A completely unproductive day.

Woke up early and called the client to clear up inventory stuff. Sadly, they were no help, so I’m pretty sure I’m screwed and funked for work on dreadful Monday. Tried to work on the resume but got lazy and decided to curl my hair. Got pho for lunch. Vietnamese food = love. Came back and napped for hours. Woke up and craved boba. Watched “Knocked Up” which was pretty cute. Finally met up with Caroline, Amy, Ying, Judy and Dan for 3 hours of boba goodness. David took my car so I had to borrow my older brother’s – I drove a 6 cylinder car for the first time! Such a big girl, I love it. I loved that everyone at Tea Station could hear our super loud and obnoxious inappropriate comments. That’s how we do and you better respect that!

Good times, good times:

Fob-alicious.

Because boba is serious bizness.

I actually feel super sick from boba. I think Caroline gave me herpes. That slu … slug.

PS Today is my one-year graduation anniversary! Holy cow, so much has changed since. For the better, for the better …

See first. Do later.

First: San Francisco in a few hours. Please let me make it out of the city and on my flight on-time without any obstacles.

Later: A list of things to do when I come back:

  1. Take Ethics Exam for CPA
  2. Pay ticket and take traffic school online
  3. Work on EditorPants!
  4. Study for GMAT
  5. Learn to cook every Sunday with Grandma + Mom.

Check back this weekend for awesome photos and entries. :D
