+ 3 lbs?

March 30, 2009

I think I reversed 5 weeks of working out by just pigging the freak out today. I had maybe 20 cookies in the past 24 hours. Two pieces of toast with nutella. A diet Dr. Pepper. Green tea ice cream. Oh man. The jiggly belly is coming back. Not hot.

Work is stressing me out. Hardcore. I give props to everyone who has made it past their second year in audit. I’m growing more cynical by the day. I can’t sleep either, even though I’m exhausted everyday. : (

Something great needs to happen to me before I have a meltdown.

I need vacay!!

After 10 weeks of light eating, two weeks of hardcore running, and 28 hours of fasting (ok, I cheated by having a small cup of Pinkberry and some strawberries), it all boiled down to Gerick’s electronic scale.

Final numbers -

Brian: 152

Gerick: 151.2

Linda: 114.5*

*Disclaimer: I weighed myself using my home scale that morning and I was at 110 – 112 so … my scale is obviously inflated.

Numbers don’t mean a thing – it’s the percentage that counts.

And … believe it or not, Gerick won the Biggest Loser Challenge! He is now $100 richer and 11 lbs lighter. Congrats! We all actually lost between 6.5 to 7 % which is actually really good! I think between the three of us, we lost about 26 lbs. It can be done! : )

Before I elaborate, can I just tell you how wonderful it is to eat good food again? I write this over a bowl of delicious homemade Chinese dessert: taro sticky rice. I really want a piece of toast with Nutella spread, but that might be too much for today. Okay – back to the story.

After the weigh-in, I immediately proceeded to eat four Girl Scout Thin Mint cookies. Ahhh, sugar in my bloodstream. Tasted so good. We then celebrated victory at Midori with all-you-can-eat. It was GLORIOUS dining. Plus, to top it off, I had green tea ice cream!

I’m going to give my body a rest this week, but Gerick and I made a new pact for Mid-May: Gerick wants to get down to 145 and I want to get down to 110 … on HIS SCALE. Beach bods for the summer! Whoo.

Overall, it’s been a great weekend. Dinner with friends on Friday, errands & adventures with Allen on Saturday, Chinese & Biggest Loser today. I also found this SUPER opportunity that’s related to LGTA. I’m going to work on the application this weekend and see what happens …

Overthinking,

Overworking the details.

It’s on paper,

Time to

Face the facts.

But the compulsion

To dissect

What

Is

In

Between

The

Lines

Keeps the guessing game going.

In 8.2 seconds,

Synapses flare

At each transmitted thought.

So many feelings,

Dreams,

Expectations, fears,

Wishes, qualms,

Leading up to this moment.

Fight or flight -

Green, red

Set go.

Break.

March 25, 2009

I’m sitting here chatting with Elaine while eating nutella on toast with fresh strawberries on top.

Mmmmm. Yummy. I want a second slice.

I should be catching up on work tonight, but I’m not. I’m tired. I ran. I’ve been good.

I need a nice break.

Homecoming 2009

March 22, 2009

An entry bursting with giddyness from seeing friends. You guys rock.

Last night, met up with Paula, Judy, and Caroline for some Tea Station love. I’m so glad I got to see the P of the PAK. We all discussed Paula’s “situation” which brought about some good laughs (and yells and high-fives). I swear, Elaine, Paula, and I have to write a book about friendship, love, and life one day.

Today, Ken, Judy, Caroline and I introduced Paula to the savory glory of Portos. She is no longer a virgin of cubano sandwiches. So much good food – it was lovely! She agrees. Fun pictures from Americana:

Hairy toes or hairy knuckles?

Just looking at this picture makes me hungry. Potato balls, you are my love and enemy.

We seriously stood at the sidewalk for 15 minutes taking 50 photos.

Americana! It’s really pretty – I definitely have to go back sometime soon.

After, hung out in the west side for the rest of the day. Drove to Beverly Hills to check out the Gala venue and met up with Ham at the mall. I bought an orange iPod mini! It will help me stay motivated with the running; so far, I’ve ran 11.5 miles this week! Pretty good, right? Also stopped by Neil’s for a bit and then headed home. Ran another 1.5 miles … only one more week left!

Finally, to complete the day, I finally got to talk to the A of the PAK – Mr. Allen Ngo! I haven’t been able to get a hold of him for a good week because of his finals so it was a relief to be able to give him my weekly updates again. I’m really happy he’s home and I can’t wait for us to all hang out again. We are adventuring on Saturday … perhaps dessert day, round 2? We gotta do it once a year. It’s tradition now.

Anyway, tomorrow will be another friendfest: Ying, Ken, and Allen in the afternoon. Yesssssssss!

College Summit, Round 2

March 19, 2009

Thursday, July 16 – Sunday, July 20th at the University of Redlands. Yep, I’m a writing coach again!

For anyone who is interested in volunteering, please visit www.collegesummit.org. There’s actually going to be a happy hour event in mid-April in downtown if you wish to find out more! I’ll be there. Plus, College Summit is buying everyone their first round of drinks!

Side note: LOVING Elaine! She’s cracking me up so much right now!. The advice you give. Love it. Classic.

On boys and relationships:

Elaine Zhong (10:51): why do you always have to be ethical

LOL.

No time for silly games while there are so many other important things for me to focus on.

Today was my most stressful day of busy season so far. Lots of questions, lots of work, lots of confirms – it was overwhelming. But I stayed late and cleared a good amount of stuff off my plate so I feel better. Came home around 9:30 pm (left my house at 6:15 am?) but still forced myself to run 1.5 miles. My motivation? Frustration! Ha. I also ate 3 girl scout cookies today. That’s 150 calories right there.

Now, I’m trying to clear my inbox of emails. I got maybe 20 emails from the controller today. x.X

Anyway, I should be focusing my energy on getting work done and marketing for the Gala. Please attend and support my event! My whole program is working around the clock to make this happen!

I wish I had more time to catch up on my reading. You will find on my nightstand or on my bed the following reading materials: the 2 most recent issues of Newsweek, the AtlanticChinese Art, Rabbit, Run, He’s Just Not That Into You, and Watchmen

USC plays tomorrow! Fight on, trojans!

Hahahahahaha.

OMG Paula Tran. Most hilarious comment ever.

Can’t wait to see you guys this weekend!

Fitness update:

Ran 1.5 miles only today. :( Legs are very, very sore. Thanks Brian.

3.5 miles

March 16, 2009

I just ran 3.5 miles with Brian today after work. I can barely climb the stairs right now. Please sympathize with me.

1. I’ve never ran more than 2.5 miles.

2. I haven’t ran in … over a year?

Okay, you don’t need to sympathize with me. It’s my fault for being lazy. x.x

Less than two weeks left until the final weigh-in for the Biggest Loser challenge. I weighed myself after running and it was so disappointing. I really need to turn up the competition; Brian is kicking so much ass right now.

Anyway, I’ve been smitten with LJ all weekend. Haha. I’m such a joke. Please make it stop.

Poetry Page

March 15, 2009

Decided to post a few more poems that I’ve been keeping in hiding for a while. See the poet page.

I need to write some new ones soon. With different topics. Ha!
