Booty bruise

January 17, 2012

The craziness of the new year has finally settled down and I’m finally feeling myself again. Good news … high fives all around!

1)     I got to hike on Sunday in Altadena and bike on Saturday in La Verne. Yay for physical activity! But in all honesty, it felt really great to be on the bike again after a two-month hiatus. I’m sure I complain about climbing and falling a lot more than I should, but I guess the frustration just comes naturally with any challenging sport. (My cubicle neighbor, Jean, totally agrees with me. She just started biking with her husband). My learning curve for sports is much greater than the average person, but I see slow and steady improvement so … that’s what matters! Getting a little bit better at crossing creeks, climbing hills, and going downhill with each bike ride. I have a really nasty bruise on my butt … but at least it’s not visible to the naked eye.

2)     We had a monstrous meal at this hole-in-the-wall (literally) Mexican restaurant near my house: El Taquito. Wet burrito with salsa verde, carnitas quesadillas, and birrias … for $20. Enough food for three meals.

3)     Going to take my first real vacation in almost a year. A short trip to Portland & Seattle … but hopefully a very fun one! Very much looking forward to food adventures and catching up with friends and family! Two cities I’ve never been to! We’re getting a rental car! Everything deserves an exclamation mark!
